This HAZWOPER 8-Hour course meets the requirements outlined in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 for eight hours of annual refresher training and is intended for those who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances.
The following people are required to take this course:
Workers involved in mandatory or voluntary cleanup operations
Workers involved in corrective actions involving cleanup operations
Workers involved in operations involving hazardous waste
Workers involved in emergency response operations
Hospital first responders
Utility workers who perform duties at a hazardous waste site
Course topics that will be covered include:
Review of and retraining on relevant topics covered in the 40-hour program, and as appropriate, using reports by the students on their work experiences
Update on developments with respect to material covered in the 40-hour course
Review of changes to pertinent provisions of EPA or OSHA standards or laws
Introduction of additional subject areas as appropriate
Hands-on review of new or altered PPE or decontamination equipment or procedures, as well as review of new developments in PPE
Review of newly developed air and contaminant monitoring equipment
