OSHA’s permit-required confined space standard (29 CFR 1910.146) covers millions of workers in general industry. With about 4.8 million confined space entries yearly, it’s imperative companies have trained employees in place to perform confined space rescue. From 2011 to 2018, 1,030 workers died from injuries involving a confined space; an estimated 60 percent were would-be rescuers. START’s training course covers topics including:
